Set of Four Stools or Side Tables in the Style of Max Bill, 1970s

2,200.00

Set of four solid pine rectilinear stools with cylindrical foot rail. Edges show alternating wood grain in construction.

This multifunctional piece of furniture can be used as a seat, stand, side table, serving tray, and box for transportation. Today its design is generally attributed to Max Bill, who drew the first sketch on a napkin. He subsequently developed the actual design and its realization in collaboration with Hans Gugelot and the cabinetmaker Paul Hildinger. These examples are slightly different in proportion and scale than the originals in that the foot rail is noticeably thicker.

Each measures 20 x 16 3/4 x 14 in.
